1. Keyword

A keyword is a word or a phrase that the users uses to search for relevant information on search engines for e.g.; a search for “order cakes online” or  rather “where can I buy cakes online?”

2. Search Engine

Search engines are tools or a program that generates results based on your search. E.g.; Google, Bing, Yahoo

3. SERP (Search Engine Results Page)

SERP are web pages that appear as a search result in the search engines after a user search for information.

3. Impressions

The number of times an online ad is displayed to a user during a search or on a website. E.g.; Banner Ads on websites, Search Results on SERP

4. Traffic

A number of users or visitors visiting a website is termed as traffic. Furthermore, there are two types of traffic, organic and paid.

5. Organic Traffic

Visitors that come to your website through organic or natural means. E.g.; visitors who visit a website via a search engine or directly enter your website name in their browser

6. Paid Traffic

Visitors that come to your website after through an Ad. E.g.; Ads displayed after search results in a search engine or due to clicking on banner ads on websites

7. Conversions

When a user completes an activity on your website like “submitting a contact form”, or because of clicking on the “check out” button and “signing up” for a newsletter

8. CTA (Call to Action)

CTA in digital marketing terms is an instruction to a user to perform an action. E.g.; Click here, Learn more, Apply now

9. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

One of the most important digital marketing terms, Seo is a process of optimizing a website and its pages to appear as a search result in order to appear in the top pages of a search engines

10. SEM (Search Engine Marketing)

Sem is a means of promoting brands/websites or increasing traffic via paid ads on search engines.

11. Landing page

A page where a user is directed to as the entry point on a website. E.g.; Home page, Blog Page etc

12. CPC (Cost Per Click)

The amount of money an advertiser pays when a user clicks an online ad. Hence, it is the amount spent on each click

13. Bounce

When a user leaves the website from the entry point page is considered a bounce.

14. SMO (Social Media Optimisation)

SMO is a process of optimizing social media platforms to generate awareness of a brand. However, this can be done by sharing and uploading posts and blogs.

15. SMM (Social Media Marketing)

SMM is a process of promoting brands/websites or increasing traffic via paid ads through social media platforms
