Twitter launches new products with India emphasis
Twitter has been in the news a lot lately. From India Head, Rishi Jaitly and MD SouthEast Asia Parminder Singh exiting in a month, to suspending high profile accounts associated with the alt-right movement, it has been in the limelight for quite some time.
While its trending again, what’s especially relevant is that this time to India’s advantage. Its launching products to boost its live video offerings. Users can now create a 140 second video. Live video is a key focus.
Furthermore, the leadership is especially excited about its future in the India. In addition to this, they also talk about how their plan of global restructuring can consequently be profitable the next year.
The rise of video consumption
India has had over $1 billion of digital ad spends in 2016 alone and with a user base of 375 million, Twitter usage will only continue to grow. There is a 400% rise in the consumption of video content in India in just one year. Keeping this in mind, Twitter’s strategy of launching products on live video will definitely see a positive outcome.
Twitter emphasises on verticals like telecom, auto, government and FMCG for generating more earnings in India.

Most noteworthy, the reason why the focus is more on India is because of engagement levels on the platform. And Twitter has many proven reasons to believe India is a high potential market.
Government of India launched “Twitter Seva”
In August 2016, the Government of India launched “Twitter Seva” on the social media network. A service created to address complaints and concerns of stake-holders in the telecom and postal sectors. Along with that, people were urged to resolve any call drop issues that they face.
Customers of ICICI & Kotak Mahindra Bank can also use Twitter to resolve their banking queries.
In conclusion, Twitter is taking the internet by storm and most of all, India is a big part of it. Since viewers in India are only increasing, twitter will only gain more popularity.
